COVID-19

As of March 25, 2020

Here is what this week at the church looks like, as of today.

  • We are meeting for our Wednesday night small groups tonight. We will practice social distancing and disinfecting protocol.
  • Our Saturday Night Meal will be delivered rather than served which means no bus pick up. We could really use volunteers to help with these deliveries. Let us know if you are willing to help.
  • Pastor Blaine will be available in the sanctuary on Saturday at 5 pm and on Sunday at 9 am and 11 am for prayer and encouragement. We will livestream the complete service on Sunday at 11 am. You can tune in here:
  • If you have any questions, please call or text Pastor Blaine at 580.340.1000.
  • Please consider using our online giving, which you can find on our site here: http://efcsalina.com/community/giving/

As much as we all miss meeting together, we are doing our best to create ways to stay engaged with you online. Here are our social media connections you will want to know about. We will post words of encouragement, devotions and other resources for kids and adults that will help you feel more connected to the church in a time of social distancing. Until we come together again in person.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has issued an executive order that exempts religious organizations from the 50-person limit as long as they create space for social distancing. Read more here. However, in the spirit of global cooperation, we are living within the mandates of the 50-person limit for gatherings and adhering to all suggested protocols. Again, we encourage our congregants to remain home if they feel vulnerable in any way or are observing self-quarantine.

Dear Church,

In light of the new Kansas-wide mandates banning public gatherings over 50 people that were released yesterday, we want to pause all of our planning and put into print where we are as a church as of today.

First of all. We are not making any decisions based on fear, rather, in a spirit of cooperation with our global community and in complete trust of God in the midst. This is an incredible time to reach beyond our walls with God’s message of salvation and hope. We look forward to engaging with our church community and beyond, using social media, YouTube and Livestream in creative ways in the upcoming weeks. We will keep you in the loop as we launch into these new avenues.

In saying this, we would ask that if you feel unwell at all or have been in contact with someone who feels unwell, please remain home. If you have recently traveled to an area where COVID-19 cases have been confirmed or are on this recent KDHE travel alert (click here), please remain home. If you are an older adult or have an underlying chronic medical condition like heart or lung issues or diabetes, please remain home during this time. Call the church with any needs you may have while self-quarantining.

Livestream. We recognize that many of our congregants are more comfortable not coming to the church and we support your decision. We are on target to begin Livestreaming this weekend. We will send out more details about that when all the equipment has been tested. If, for some reason, we cannot make that happen, we will broadcast this Sunday’s 11 am service through Facebook Live on our Church page. Please like our Facebook page here.

With that said, we are planning to meet for this weekend’s services with several modifications in place to adhere to the 50-person limit. Keep in mind that this could all change contingent on forthcoming government mandates but here is what it will look like based on today’s regulations.

We will limit the number of congregants in the sanctuary to the first 50 people. Once that is full, we will close the sanctuary and allow the next 50 people to use the West Front Porch entrance into the Front Porch where the service will be shown on TV with full participation in the service elements. If that fills up, we will open up the gymnasium through the West Gym Doors and again stream the service through a big-screen TV.

Kids will be dropped off for the entire service directly to their rooms to avoid close contact in check-in lines.  Cleaning and spacing protocols will be followed in the classrooms. Parents will pick children up directly from their rooms after service.

The Front Porch Cafe will not be serving food or beverages and the community drinking fountain will not be available so please bring your beverages in with you.

We will follow a “no-touch” greeting time and will place offering baskets on tables at the front of the meeting space so that you can drop your offering into it. We encourage you to give online by clicking on this link.

We will implement additional sanitizing measures in our meeting spaces between events for the foreseeable future.

We will add an additional service (the only one with bus service) on Saturday at 5 pm that will end with distribution of boxed dinners in the place of our community meal. So, to reiterate, here is our service schedule for this weekend:

  • Saturday Service @ 5 pm (followed by boxed dinner distribution)
  • Saturday Service @ 7 pm
  • Sunday Service @ 9 am
  • Sunday Service @ 11 am

In addition, we are asking our congregants to adhere to the following protocols while in the building:

  1. Wash your hands often
  2. If you must cough, please do so into your elbow
  3. Don’t touch your face
  4. Stay 3-6 feet apart

Other than Sundays, our gatherings are usually under 50 people so we will go forward with all other small gatherings, following the above protocols.

Again, we will stay in touch regularly so please check Facebook, your email and the church website often.

Trusting God with You,

Emmanuel Pastors
